Currently our organization is planning a “Kids Literacy Day” event in which our goal is to promote literacy among school aged children by hosting an event partially funded by the businesses in the Denton area. This is also an opportunity to provide the children with the books in excess from the Invisible Children’s Mission project last semester. It’s important for children to have educational materials in the home to help enhance their learning experience. We are in need of volunteers who will help in heading the committee in charge of planning this event. This is a great resume builder and a great way to get involved with your organization. We need to work together in getting donations for the supplies needed for this event to be a true success. We will be conducting several activities throughout the day. We will be having reading circles with opportunities to lead reading circles with the children. We plan on having a Bounce House for the children to enjoy. We will also have a creative art group who will be drawing representations of the stories told. If there is ample planning and donations we will be providing the children with box lunches at the close of the day.
